PRLog - July 21, 2011 - GREENFORD, U.K. -- To celebrate the successful opening of Hotel Okura Macau over 100 VIP guests from Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and the region attended a glittering ceremony on 2nd July 2011 at which they were treated to a spectacular display of lion dancing, Japanese Taiko drumming and the traditional breaking of the sake barrel to bring good fortune to the new hotel.

The Hotel Okura Macau opened in May 2011 and is one of the three luxury 5-star hotels in the brand new destination resort Galaxy Macau™ which is situated in the Cotai district between the islands of Taipa and Coloane. The three hotels are the Galaxy Hotel, which has 1,500 rooms and suites; the Banyan Tree Macau with 250 suites and 10 villas and Hotel Okura Macau which has 500 elegant rooms and suites, providing over 2,200 rooms in total.

Adding a fresh new dimension to Macau’s only truly integrated destination resort, Hotel Okura Macau brings its own traditional Japanese style of service dedicated to delivering moments of kindness through gracious Japanese hospitality. Personal touches like handmade origami cranes placed on pillows each night, and a very special welcome from the hotel’s traditionally dressed Kimono Ambassadors that greet every guest that arrives at the hotel.

In a speech at the opening event, Mr Francis Lui, Vice Chairman of Galaxy Entertainment Group, said:

“Through the legendary Hotel Okura, we are providing our guests with 500 opulent suites and luxurious guestrooms that redefine Japanese luxury and style. Okura’s harmonious combination of function and beauty can be found throughout the hotel and it gives Galaxy Macau a unique offering in the market and enhances the resort’s standing as a truly game-changing property. We are exceptionally pleased to partner with Okura Hotels & Resorts, one of Asia’s leading hospitality companies, and we are delighted that Galaxy Macau can play a part in Okura’s growth story across Asia and around the world.”

Hotel Okura Macau offers 500 guest rooms, including 60 suites. These range in size from the 46m2 Deluxe Rooms to the larger 84m2 Junior Suites, with Superior Suites measuring up to 99 m2, as well as a sumptuous Imperial Suite and Royal Suite providing between 115-127m2 of luxurious living space. All rooms have flat-screen TVs in the bedroom, as well as in the spacious bathroom, wifi connections and complimentary use of the gym and swimming pools. Moreover, the hotel offers 6 well-equipped function rooms with a total of 550m2 functional space catering for wedding, conference and events.

Hotel guests can enjoy the Grand Resort Deck covering 52,000m2 and leisure facilities include the world’s largest skytop wave pool, with waves of up to 1.5 metres in height, covering 4,000m2. Plus a white sandy beach and five additional individually designed indoor and outdoor swimming pools. A Cabana area provides an exclusive poolside retreat close to the Banyan Tree Spa.
.
Taste buds are being well catered for with over 50 restaurants, bars and lounges across the resort. Culinary delights at the Hotel Okura Macau range from the outdoor, all day dining ‘Terrace Restaurant’ which blends western style dishes with Asian favourites in traditional Japanese Bento treasure boxes; whilst the ‘Nagomi’ Lobby Bar & Lounge blends Japanese culture with the serving of traditional ‘Wagashi’ confectionary with its afternoon tea. These colourful treats, made from natural ingredients such as Mochi, Azuki bean paste and fruits are almost an art form in Japan with shapes and flavours that change with the seasons.

In addition, a wide array of sake from across Japan is available in the ‘Sakazuki’ Sake Bar and Okura’s signature Japanese restaurant ‘Yamazato’ gives patrons the opportunity to savour the authentic taste of Japan with Kaiseki dishes, freshly prepared sushi, or grilled dishes, whilst looking out over a graceful Japanese garden.

The hotel is located 5 minutes by car from Macau International Airport and the Taipa PacOn Ferry Terminal. With  only 15 minutes from Macau Maritime Ferry Terminal and the Zhuhai-GongBei border gate.
