July 21, 2011 - PRLog -- Rememberpills.com announced its Appointment & Medication Alert Service as a FREE service that is now available to the general public.  The free alert service uses simple emails and cell phone text messages to remind users to remember appointments, and to take medications or supplements on time.  It can also be used to set up daily or weekly tasks, or any other reminder alerts.

"Our lives are so complicated these days, and remembering appointments and medication regimens that are complex, is tough. So everyone can use a reminder to not miss appointments and get the best results for taking their pills.  Rememberpills.com helps you make your appointments and stick to your doctor’s instructions so you get healthier faster,” said Mitch Pelletier, RememberPills.com CEO.

The free service is designed to be simple.  Users register at www.rememberpills.com, and quickly enter reminder alerts.  Rememberpills.com keeps no user-indentifying information, other than email address and cell number, and users who don’t want to share prescription information simply create reminders like “take two of the little yellow pills.”  Once a user’s pill schedule is entered, they receive email reminders, or email and text reminders if they provide a cell phone number.  (Users pay their own text message charges.)

In addition to setting up their own pill, vitamin, and supplement schedules, many people find that Rememberpills.com is great for setting up reminders for aging parents or children who may be forgetful.  By putting in her mother’s pill schedule, a busy daughter knows Mom will receive daily text message reminders to take her medication at 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.  Others use the service to remind cell phone-addicted teen-agers to do their homework. Or just remind yourself of your mom's doctor appointment.
Pelletier pointed out that in addition to the free service for individuals, medical and dental practices, assisted living facilities and group insurance plans can enroll in Rememberpills.com’s group service with reminders for unlimited patients & members for only $9.99 a month.   This allows a doctor’s office to set up reminders for all their patients 'while' the patient is there in the office.

"Doctors tell me that, aside from people not making their appointments, one of their biggest problems is that patients don’t always follow medication schedules carefully,” Pelletier says, “and then the doctor can’t tell if the prescription isn’t working … or the patient simply didn’t take it regularly.  It’s frustrating for patients and their doctors.  Hopefully Rememberpills.com will help reduce that problem.  As mentioned, another big problem for doctors – and patients – is missed appointments, and Rememberpills.com can help with that, too.  In fact, we’ve created a group version of Rememberpills.com for medical offices and group insurance plans, so doctors can set up appointment and pill reminders for their patients at the same time the patient is there AT the doctor's office, making additional appointments, and getting their prescriptions.  We believe that getting people to take their medication on schedule, and showing up for their doctor appointments, will improve medical outcomes and reduce health costs over time.

RememberPills.com will accept donations on their website, but the Appointment & Medication Alert Service is FREE.

“RememberPills.com hopefully can contribute to helping folks live better & healthier lives. "
