July 21, 2011 - PRLog -- Author K.J. Reilly decided to use Pubmission to find a publisher for her comedic satire Madison Ave, and it worked. She landed a book deal with Elixirist, an independent publisher and member of Pubmission.

In an effort to circumvent the traditional submissions process, Reilly opted to try uploading her submission to Pubmission.com, a website based in Flat Rock, NC. Pubmission calls itself an online submissions hub for writers and publishing professionals.

The website looks to revolutionize the way manuscript submissions are handled by literary agents and publishers. Instead of collecting a large pile of envelopes in an office corner, publishers receive submissions via an online sortable table, which quickly shows them which writing on the site matches up with them best.

For writers, Pubmission offers the ability to upload their submissions just once, and then see which of the site’s publisher members to target. Writers also have the option of receiving starred Editor Ratings to help them prove to publishers that their submission is a gem.

“The whole publishing industry is changing,” says Reilly, “and I think everyone is looking for a model that will work. I think the Pubmission website was very inviting and easy to navigate — I also was relieved that it was a hub — not a gimmicky system.”

Pubmission currently offers a free lifetime membership to new publisher members. It’s also free for writers to submit their work to the publishers on the site.

“Whether you’re an e-book publisher or still believe in the print model, the quality of the content is still what separates the publishers who fail from those who don’t,” says Wolf Hoelscher, Pubmission’s founder and president. “We try to make it simpler and faster for publishers to find that quality content.”

Elixirist, run by Sean Samborski, seems to believe that Reilly’s Madison Ave is a good fit for them. The satirical novel is set in 1980s New York City and follows a short, paunchy central character who hopes to win the heart of a knockout new addition to his ad agency.

“We couldn’t be more pleased by Ms. Reilly’s success,” Hoelscher adds. “That’s why we started Pubmission in the first place.”

Madison Ave is scheduled for release on November 1, 2011. Visit http://www.pubmission.com for more details.
