July 20, 2011 - PRLog -- The Good Neighbor Homeless Shelter of Cartersville, GA is excited to announce its upcoming event, the 15th Annual “Our Hearts, Their Harbor” Silent and Live Auction Event.  As the premier fundraising event for the Shelter this year, the Shelter looks forward to a successful event that hopes to raise over $30,000 to support the work of the Shelter.

This year’s event will be held on Saturday, August 13th at the Cartersville Country Club from 7pm to 10pm.  Tickets are available now at a cost of $50 per person and can be purchased at the Shelter.  Anyone interested in getting tickets can call the Shelter at 770.607.0610 or stop by any time to purchase them.

Jessica Mitcham, Executive Director, says of the event, “those who come join us can look forward to great food and fun live music as well as the items to be in the Silent Auction and Live Auction.  We have some great vacation packages to offer, some nice packages of tickets for local and regional event venues, several opportunities to bid on luxury services like massages, manicures and pedicures, and some beautiful home décor items.”

Good Neighbor Homeless Shelter only receives 5% of its annual funding from any government sources, while 95% of all the dollars to support the Shelter are raised locally through donations from individuals, businesses, and churches, and through Special Events.  The Shelter is extremely thankful to be a United Way partner agency and receives some of their funding through the work of the United Way.

“2011 has been an extremely busy year for the Shelter,” says Mitcham.  “We have been at 100% full capacity three out of the last six months.  We are serving men, women, and families and have served 23 children this year ages 8 months to 17 years old.  It is vital that our community have a place for people to go where they can get the support needed to ‘get back on their feet,’ find employment and a new place to call home.  Guests are able to stay at the Shelter up to 12 weeks and must be drug and alcohol free.  We are so thankful for the support of our community to continue to make our work possible.”

If interested in getting involved with the 15th Annual “Our Hearts, Their Harbor” event, or to purchase tickets, you can reach Jessica Mitcham at 770.607.0610.  More information about the event can also be found on their website at www.goodneighborshelter.org.
