The People and Environment Achievement Business Awards 2011 introduce inspirational ambassadors

Jarvis Smith, the lead singer of rock reggae band The Phoenix Rose and co-founder of the inaugural People and Environment Achievement Business Awards this year is proud to announce the key ambassadors offering their support for the Awards for 2011

July 19, 2011 - PRLog -- Galen Ayers, Philanthropist
A freelance psychologist, NGO consultant, trauma therapy practitioner, recording musician, writer and artist, Galen expresses her views and advocacy of various charities through these mediums. By far not just a pretty face, Galen is an incredibly inspirational girl who most recently produced the single, ‘Key to Change’ with her father, Kevin Ayers for homeless charity Centrepoint.

“The integrity and vision of those who have set up the PEABs is very apparent when you meet them one-to-one, and this is supported by the concrete evidence of their actions and decision making in their business model. It is these factors alongside my willingness to be taught and be inspired to live a more ecologically aware life that make me proud to stand as an ambassador for the PEABs”

Debra Patterson, Green Team Champion, The Savoy

After working at The Savoy for 13 years as PA to the General Manager, when Fairmont Group took over the hotel in 2005, she had the chance to do a presentation on how to ‘green’ the hotel, which led to her promotion as Green Team Champion, which as well as recycling 90% of waste, she has seen the introduction of a ‘Green Butler’ to advise guests on the best eco experiences in London and becoming a partner of Thames21 to keep the river clean.

"I feel honoured to have been asked to be a key ambassador.  The issues of sustainability and responsibility touches all our lives at home, in school and in the workplace and if in sharing my story I can inspire others to see that even small changes can make a big difference then my journey has been all the more worthwhile.  Commitment, dedication and passion are key attributes for success, but communication as an ambassador is the most important of all as it keeps the message alive."

Gav Lawson, Founder of THTC (The Hemp Trading Company)

After his brother investigated the planet saving benefits of hemp Gav wanted to set up an ethical company offering this product and THTC was born, fusing cutting edge designs and environmentally friendly clothes. Through THTC he supports organic farming, reduces agricultural chemical use and saves water. He ensures all production is monitored according to the International Labour Organisation (ILO) standards, is a member of www.seecompanies.com and www.ethicalfashionforum.com. Gav counts Goldie, Newton Faulkner, Benjamin Zephaniah and DJ Beardyman amongst his most loyal fans.

"I'm very excited to have been asked to represent the PEA Business Awards. They are a forward thinking, energetic group of eco warriors with great ambition, and their approach towards eco activism fits perfectly with that of THTC."

Jarvis Smith, co-founder of the awards comments, “I’m thrilled to announce these people as ambassadors of the awards – they are all exemplar to others in their approach to incorporating sustainability in business. I hope they inspire others and encourage entrants in the awards.”
