July 27, 2011 - PRLog -- Scarletta Press isn’t a new name in the book industry, but their new childrens line is. This past February, Scarletta announced their collaboration with author Pendred (Penny) Noyce as the beginning of their new line for strong and thoughtful readers. Scarletta is fulfilling that announcement by releasing Penny’s novel Lost in Lexicon: An Adventure in Words and Numbers [isbn 978- 0-9830219-2-6 (tr) | 978-0-9830219-3-3 (e)] for publication on August 9.

Lost in Lexicon is a literary fantasy for readers age 9–12. It tells the story of two cousins, Ivan and Daphne, on a quest to find lost children in a world of words and numbers running wild. After the cousins outwit a plague of punctuation, grateful villagers beg them to find Lexicon’s missing children, who have been enticed away by dancing lights in the sky. When a careless Mathemystical reflects them across the border into the ominous Land of Night, they find themselves in deep danger. Kidnapped, imprisoned, and mesmerized—with time running out—Daphne and Ivan must find a way to solve the mystery of the lights in the sky and restore the lost children of Lexicon to their homes.

A first-time author, Pendred’s novel is a Parents’ Choice Recommended Award Winner, an Independent Publisher Book Awards silver medalist, a Ben Franklin Award Winner for 1–2 Color Interior Design, a 2011 International Book Awards Finalist for Chil- dren’s Fiction, an Indie Next Kids List Winter 2011 pick, and a ForeWord’s Book of the Year Awards Honorable Mention. ForeWord Reviews says “This rollicking, often tongue-in-cheek novel will appeal to young readers who need a break from their computer games and long to journey into the woods of learning.”

The new edition from Scarletta Press comes complete with new cover art, 160 black-and-white interior illustrations, challenge activities, and discussion questions. With four books in the Lexicon Adventure Series planned, Scarletta is also announcing the release of the rest of the books in the successive Augusts to come.

Penny’s novels are not only perfect for kids as fun reads, but also work as great educator tools. Penny is available to host Lexicon Village events, skype or visit classrooms, and help educators plan curriculums based around the concepts found in her books.

Lost in Lexicon: An Adventure in Words and Numbers is available for pre-order at all participating vendors. To learn more about Pendred Noyce, please visit her website at www.lostinlexicon.com or Scarletta Press at www.scarlettapress.com.
