Texting your way to Sales-the new Business trend for marketing in the Summer months

Using texting to keep your small business active in the summer months

July 18, 2011 - PRLog -- Edmonton, AB- What are the three things you are never without? Your keys, your wallet and your cell phone. Business owners are finding it easier to take vacations because unlike traditional marketing avenues, text message marketing is making it 100 times easier to reach their audience even why they are lying on a beach somewhere.
“Small Businesses can benefit greatly from sending text messages to their current clients using an ‘opt in’ method- and then you can send them various sales, events, specials, discounts or other business opportunities in a few minutes. Night clubs and restaurants having been doing it for ages, it’s time other  small businesses took advantage of the technology and use text messaging for sending blasts and coupons to customers for promotions they are offering,” says Greg Kopchuk who heads up the ActionCOACH Canada business coaching team.
Greg offers 5 tips to small businesses on how to use mobile marketing this summer to keep the beach ball bouncing and the sales hot:
1. Offer an opt in option to current clients letting them know that they will receive a few text messages about special offers or promotions available- don’t bombard them, but sending out a coupon code is always an incentive to build customer loyalty.
2. Text messaging gets advertisements and promotions directly to the intended target without the spam filters of email. Try sending your traditional e-mail blasts by text messaging instead of email. Promotions sent by text message blasts have about a 12% response rate- which is a lot higher than traditional forms of marketing.
3. Plan a small sale, say a percentage off of a product or service and send it out through text messaging. Then encourage others to forward it to others and receive an additional 5% off for sending it to potential customers. Retailers can utilize this by offering coupon codes to download as well.
4. Stop wasting money, resources, and time distributing coupons in the local paper or in direct mail. You can go green and send out bulk text messages with a text coupon that they can show at the checkout in your store , or when they come to sign up for a service. You can check in at an airport with online codes, now business owners need to cash in on how to use it for their business.
5. Make sure to include positive customer interaction in your texts. Don’t just have it be all about your business- make sure to list the benefits to your clients by receiving your promotions through text. Request feedback in between the campaigns so that you can better understand your customer and their needs.
