If Mom’s Were In Charge of Ending This Lockout ~ We’d Be Playing Football Right Now!

The NFL Lock Out IS Dragging-What Would Happen If Mom's Were Helping Out In The Negotiations?

July 17, 2011 - PRLog -- You remember the old Skippy Peanut Butter Commercial…where the Older Brother gets to cut the sandwich…but the Younger Brother gets to choose which slice he wants?  That’s how a Mom solves a problem.

What’s the deal Guys?  Everywhere I go, I ask people their opinion of the Lockout.  They are tired of the debate, the ugly dispute and bad feelings around a Game that we love!  The Number 1 Issue is Money.  You mean there isn’t enough to go around?  Really?

According to Time Magazine: …The Sport is setting ratings records every week, revenues are strong, and ESPN is reportedly close to agreeing to increase the fee it pays the NFL to telecast Monday Night Football to around $2 Billion annually, an increase of at least 65%.

Can’t we share?  That’s one of the very first things that Mom’s teach their little ones.  Also, didn’t we learn that in Kindergarten?  I guess some people didn’t.  Even Mike Ditka has something to say about it: “I think to a degree, it’s a power struggle, I really do,” Ditka told Dave Kreiger of the Denver Post.  “Egos have gotten in the way of reason.  I think common sense would be much better served if people would just think about the situation, think about where they’re at as Players and Owners in life, and try to make this thing work.”  Good advice Mike, but who’s listening?

We know that Money isn’t the root of all evil…it’s the LOVE of Money.  On the other side, you’ve got Players making crazy comments about slavery.  In an interview with Doug Farrar of Yahoo Sports, Vikings RB, Adrian Peterson had the nerve to compare his life to that of a slave.  Peterson commented on the Owner-Player relationship, saying “It’s modern-day Slavery, you know?”  Once again, I ask…Really?

So what else are they arguing about?  Playing 18 games instead of 16.  More games = more potential injuries for the Players.  Hines Ward of the Pittsburgh Steelers said: “If they’re so worried about what concussions will do to us after our careers, then guarantee our insurance for life.  And if you’re going to fine me for a hit, let the money go to Veteran guys to help with their medical issues.  To say the league really cares?  They don’t give a **** (expletive deleted)about concussions.  And now they want to add two extra games?  Are you kidding”?

When a Mom makes a decision, she takes her whole family into consideration.  If there is no 2011 Season, a lot of people are going to suffer along with the loyal fans.  According to the NFL Players Association: an estimated $160 Million would be lost in each NFL City and an estimated 115,000 jobs will be part of the fall out.

Right now, it seems to me that we are looking at 4th down, 25 to go with seconds on the clock. So, I leave you with this: "In Sports and in Life, Never Play the Score....Always Play the Point".  What's the point?  Like the Skippy peanut butter sandwich, there's enough to share...just as there's enough money to go around.  LET'S PLAY FOOTBALL....don't make the Millions of Fans scrape the bottom of the jar and leave us without a Season.
