July 17, 2011 - PRLog -- Children absent from school for chronic health conditions risk falling behind in their study schedule. Children with untreated vision problems cannot track printed letters and words across a page and learn to read. Further, oral disease in children is responsible for a significant chunk of lost school hours each year. Child health care services play a key role in the early identification of developmental, behavioral, social, environmental and biological conditions that affect children’s ability to learn.

Located in the heart of Shekhawati region of Rajasthan, Pilani is well known for various educational institutions, CSIR Laboratory CEERI as well as the upcoming BrahMos Missile Assembly Project unit. Established in the year 2004 Jamuna Mishra Academy - JMA which has been making rapid strides in early childhood education is presently one among the top ranking and most sought after schools at Pilani Rajasthan.

The school which started with an enrollment of 60 students for the Nursery, LKG, First Junior and Class1 has grown today till Class VIII with well over 8 times the enrollment. The teacher strength at JMA also has grown from 5 in 2004 to 23 presently.  A noteworthy fact is that the girl student enrollment has been steadily rising every year in JMA and is presently close to 50% of total strength which itself is a matter of pride in a state like Rajasthan which had alarmingly low record of girl’s education.

JMA is well known for conducting every year starting from 2004 the annual medical camp in the month of July for all children with the help of leading medical practitioners of Pilani. Right from the stage of admissions, JMA regularly follows up the immunization schedule of children in the school and advice the parents accordingly. The checkup objective is to focus and identify deficiencies in children’s vision, hearing, nutrition, behavioral and oral health as well as general medical needs.

For the year 2011, it was organized during July 4 – 12 and the team of doctors included Dr Rajendra Prasad Pareek, Dr Anil Garssa, Dr Anil Kumar and Dr Pawan Sihag. Principal JMA Pilani Mrs Booma Natarajan along with her team of teachers and supporting staff had ensured that all arrangements were duly made. The principal profusely thanked the doctors for sparing their very valuable time for a noble cause on a voluntary basis. The checkup data was shared with concerned parents for followup actions.
