Plastics Russia Opportunities Are Great

July 16, 2011 - PRLog -- Despite severe market shocks, Russian polymer market keeps growing this year both in terms of volume and turnover. And although many players experience major problems, this growth will go on. However the moods of polymer producers as well as polymer converters are not cheerful as there is no certainty in it. The main question is how the present market revival should be taken – as a post-impact bounce or as a decisive return into the pre-crisis “rocket launch” trajectory.


Those who believe in the first are preparing to tight their belts even stricter and thinking about how to survive in a new market shock. Industry optimists are waiting for the booming years to come back with quick investment return and relaxed competition on a fast-growing market. Both parties are not right.



Traditional drivers of domestic demand for plastic products in Russia are food industry, packing industry and retail and construction. The role of advanced manufacturing industries (in particular car production) is not a notable yet in Russia unlike many other countries. The needs of food producers and retailers in polymer films, bags and other package related to a mass customer demand dynamics, while the market of plastic goods for construction (tubes, sheets, windows, insulation materials and so on) is highly sensitive to state and large private companies investment activity.
