Solar Innovations, Inc. Polycarbonate Wall has receives Texas Department of Insurance Approval

PRLog (Press Release) - Jul. 18, 2011 - July 15, 2011 Pine Grove, PA - Solar Innovations, Inc., a custom manufacturer of residential and commercial skylights; greenhouses; conservatories; sunrooms; folding, sliding, and stacking walls and screens; and specialty windows and doors; has received Texas Department of Insurance approval on the SI4000 Polycarbonate Wall System.  These products are officially listed on the department’s website as approved.
Solar’s new product line, the SI4000’s Translucent Panel System features 60mm (millimeters) polycarbonate.  Polycarbonate diffuses sunlight and helps to reduce glares which can occur with standard glazing. The series is designed to be used in skylights or vertical walls. The 60mm poly skylight and translucent modular panel systems are Impact Certified in locations such as Florida and Texas.

Recent innovations in polycarbonate technology have made it a far more attractive product. The development of “mar resistant coatings,” has made polycarbonate more resistant to scratches and damage. Polycarbonate has less of a tendency to break, in comparison to some other materials. Additional technological developments have led to increased warranty periods for “yellowing” polycarbonate.  Ten, 15, and even 20 year warranties are now available, depending on the product’s application and location.
Polycarbonate is lighter than glass, which lowers shipping rates.  For example, a square foot of polycarbonate weighs less than one pound, while a square foot of insulated glass weighs approximately five pounds.  In addition to lowering shipping costs, the lighter weight makes polycarbonate easier to lift and install, making its use even more economical.

In this eco-friendly era, the growing popularity of “green building” also persuades people toward the use of polycarbonate for commercial and residential buildings. The components of polycarbonate are plastic-based, which means they can easily be recycled. Some polycarbonate is made from post-consumer recycled materials; this makes it a good choice for projects seeking LEED certification.
Additionally, performance should be considered.  The thickness and number of interior walls in polycarbonate affects its U-value, which measures the ability of a component to conduct heat; the lower the value, the more insulated it is. The more wall layers polycarbonate has, the more insulated and stronger the unit is. Solar offers various thicknesses to meet project specifications.
