Breakthrough inventor Jock Brandis brings Sustainable Technology to a unique Documentary Program

REPLAN IT brings to life the science of “appropriate technology” as Jock Brandis, founder of the Full Belly Project, seeks ways to improve the economy by using engineering techniques to meet the specific needs of communities around the world.

July 15, 2011 - PRLog -- REPLAN IT chronicles the efforts of Jock Brandis, MIT fellow, Popular Mechanics darling and CNN Hero. As one of the world’s leading authorities in the field of appropriate technology, Brandis inspires people worldwide to affect powerful social and economic change. He and his non-profit organization, the Full Belly Project (http://www.thefullbellyproject.org), accomplish this by introducing sustainable machinery and engineering techniques specific to the diverse regions of the world, from an impoverished village in Malawi to a family farm in rural Rutherford, North Carolina. Be it a gravity-powered water pump, portable solar power or a simple schoolhouse desk and chair, the technology involves low cost indigenous materials that are readily available. These devices are constructed, operated and maintained by the local communities with limited outside assistance.

REPLAN IT is a production of Common Sense Films. The Wilmington, North Carolina-based multi-media company invested nearly five years developing and producing this documentary program, capturing the true spirit of a unique individual and a brilliant mind at work.  Starting in 2006, filmmaker Rob Hill accompanied Brandis to villages in developing nations, videotaping over 120 hours while documenting Brandis at work in the field.

REPLAN IT will be broadcast as a three-part documentary series supported by an interactive website and a multi-part web series sponsored by environmentally-conscious furniture designer, Herman Miller, Inc. The series will serve as a catalyst for raising awareness about sustainable development through outreach programs around the globe. In addition to offering simple solutions for economic development, REPLAN IT will serve as a call to action on individuals around the world to play a larger role in guiding their own destinies.

REPLAN IT is not merely an entertaining documentary series; the production is set to deliver sustainable technology to those who truly are in need of economic and social change in their lives. These transformations will be documented as each new village, farm and neighborhood celebrate the gift of sustainability brought by Jock Brandis and the Full Belly Project. Support is crucial in spotlighting the issue of sustainability and bringing it into the public eye. Individuals wishing to support Mr. Brandis and subsequent episodes of REPLAN IT may make a contribution at the crowd-funding website IndieGoGo.com (http://www.indiegogo.com/REPLAN-It).
