July 14, 2011 - PRLog -- Albuquerque, NM -- More than 8 out of 10 parents and grandparents say playing entertaining family board games is a great way to teach children and grandchildren about better money management, according to a survey conducted for WiseMoney, The Town of Financial Literacy.

WiseMoney (http://www.destinagames.com) is an interactive board game for ages 13 to 99+ that teaches the entire family about banking, investing, budgeting, payday, financial responsibility, financing, credit, and identity protection.

Using board games to teach children and grandchildren about personal finance is a natural, since 93% of surveyed parents and grandparents play board games as a family – with almost half of them (46%) playing them frequently, according to the survey.

The top qualities that surveyed parents and grandparents want most in family learning games are:
- Fun to play
- Teamwork
- Creativity
- Helps the whole family learn
- Fosters communication

The top qualities that teens are looking for in family learning games are:
- Creativity
- Hot and trendy
- Fun to play
- Teamwork

The survey was conducted at Toy Fair 2011 in New York, and as well as with several Business Professionals of America (BPA) and DECA chapters in New Mexico. Over 200 parents, grandparents, and teens participated in the survey.

“WiseMoney, The Town of Financial Literacy combines the qualities that both parents/grandparents and teens want in family learning games. WiseMoney is an original, fun, engaging way to teach the whole family to become 'money smart,' and promotes teamwork and communication,” said Elizabeth Treher, Ph.D., founder of Destina, Inc., which makes WiseMoney.

Destina, Inc. is a woman-owned business headquartered in Albuquerque, NM that creates team-based, face-to-face learning games.

Retailing for only $34.99, WiseMoney players compete by answering financial-related questions and facing real world situations and challenges as they learn the secrets of money management.

The game can be played by two to 12 players, forming teams when there are four or more players. It includes: colorful 20-inch playing board and rules, four player pieces, two different types of dice, a spinner, a timer, and eight sets of cards.

The object of the game is to follow the footsteps on the board of the fictitious town where all the streets are named after financial terms, such as "Stocks and Bonds Blvd." and "Bankruptcy Alley," until players prove they are wise about money and reach the finish line.
