Follow on Google News | Doctors.net.uk launches new mobile phone app for conference highlightsFirst highlights package is from the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s 2011 annual meeting in Chicago.
By: Tala Doctors.net.uk has converted its online conference highlights service into an app that enables members to watch videos, read independent reports about latest research and scrutinise specific questions put to opinion leaders. Highlights of ASCO 2011, the preeminent oncology conference, are the first contents to go live. The app gives direct access to the latest thinking on key tumour types, with videos featuring leading oncologists from across Europe and North America. The Conference Highlights app, which is offered exclusively to Doctors.net.uk members, also enables doctors to read abstracts from articles associated with individual conferences and to request full versions of articles via email. They can receive Twitter feeds for upcoming conferences too. The new resource is free of charge and available for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. It complements Doctors.net.uk’ Dr Tim Ringrose, Medical Director of Doctors.net.uk, said: “We know that with funding restrictions and clinical workload, doctors are finding it increasingly difficult to attend conferences in person. This is a concern because such events give access to new thinking and a unique opportunity for doctors to learn from senior colleagues. “This app is therefore a really useful resource for busy doctors who want the latest conference updates while on the go. It’s a quick and simple way for them to obtain everything from a quick topic overview to detailed information about a specific medical condition.” # # # Doctors.net.uk has a membership of more than 184,000 doctors, with 97 percent saying that the network is their most trusted source of information. It is the online resource most frequently used by them and provides forums for discussion, education and extensive editorial content, including conference highlights to support them in making the best decisions for the care of their patients. The network was created for doctors, by doctors in 1998. More than 500 doctors now act as advisers and clinical information contributors. Credibility and integrity of all published materials is assured thanks to an experienced editorial team and a code of absolute transparency for all information published. End
