Interior Designer, Julie Ann Segal, Comments on Bill Mack Artwork "Forevermore"

PRLog (Press Release) - Jul. 13, 2011 - Julie Ann Segal did not realize that the relief artist Bill Mack lived in Minnesota let alone that his studio was only 15 minutes from her studio, practically in her own backyard. Upon viewing his pieces Julie Ann came upon "Forevermore" and had to take a second look at the bronze relief and sensual feel of the piece.

Measuring at 64.5" wide and 39” high, “Forevermore” would make a very peaceful, loving, and calm statement in a bedroom. Bill Mack creates this piece to feel very real to life, but not lifesize. Julie Ann felt the emotion coming through the art, specifically the sensual love between the two individuals. Other emotions evoked in the artwork are peace and relaxation. The satin cool feel of the sheets is also brought to life in "Forevermore". The way the light hits the piece emphasizes the bodies. Julie Ann stated, "I especially love how the subject matter comes outside the frame, it adds a nice touch."

“Forevermore's” sensual feel and shapes evoke a lot of positive energy.  As a feng shui designer, Julie Ann finds this piece could enhance the partnership area of the occupants in a space. It would be a great piece to have in a bedroom. "Forevermore" could be used to make the feng shui adjustment to call in a partner or support an existing partnership by placing it in a bedroom or partnership area of the *bagua.

About Bill Mack:

Mack was born in Minneapolis, in a family that had never had anyone directly involved in art. He was creating and selling oil portraits in high school. At 17 years old, while employed as a draftsman for a company making bronze dedication tablets, a crucial moment occurred which would change his life forever. Portraits are the most difficult image to create in relief. When a poor quality relief portrait for a memorial tablet created by another artist was submitted to the company for approval, Mack thought he could do a better job. He gave it a try and it was instantly accepted. He immediately quit his job and began a career as a commissioned relief sculptor.

At the University of Minnesota, he majored in Journalism with a minor in art history while continuing to do commissioned work as a free-lance artist. Upon graduation, he continued his one career, working as a relief sculptor. So rare are "accomplished" relief sculptors that Mack met with immediate success. His commissioned work ranged from very small, low relief ingots and medallions, to often monumental sculptures. Besides creating hundreds of works in traditional cast bronze, he also gained experience with more modern substances, including resins, urethanes, epoxies, silicones, and acrylics. Working in different materials and trying new methods, Mack has gained increasing confidence in his abilities. When he made the transition to the galleries, he possessed a great deal of technical knowledge to compliment his unique talents.

He has no mentors. There is nowhere to go to learn his art. No one teaches his technique. Sculptor Bill Mack works in such a rare art form that coming up with a name to describe it has been only slightly less arduous than creating the art itself.

For over twenty years, Mack paid his dues, working mostly as a commissioned artist -- from miniature medallic works such as the Bicentennial medals for the State of Minnesota and the cities of St. Louis and Baltimore, to reliefs and full-round sculptures for corporations such as General Motors, Pillsbury, and 3M. Then, in the early 1980's, Mack made a venturous artistic move and entered the competitive gallery world with his Alto Relief' sculptures. Today, in the popular contemporary arts, he has developed a major following.
