It’s Christmas in July for Many Local Treasure Coast Charities

July 13, 2011 - PRLog -- Several local charities get much needed support

(Port St. Lucie, FL) – Following the most successful Golf outing in the PSL Sunset Rotary’s 15 year history, the club was excited to share the proceeds with a number of local non-profits. This help comes at an opportune time as many of these programs face double-digit funding cuts, as much as 40% in some cases.

The Treasure Coast Charities Tournament was the brain child of Rotarian Ted Stevens of Computer Network Services. Stevens worked closely with the PSL Sunset Rotary Golf Committee members Pat Christensen, Steve Krumfolz, Lenny Loyd, Jeannette Weiss, Larry Breault and Carter Merchanson, Golf Director at Harbor Ridge Yacht and Country Club.

The recipients included:
•Theresa Garbarino-May of CASTLE - $3500 + the proceeds of their silent auction items.
•Judi Miller of Big Brothers & Big Sisters - $3500 + the proceeds of their silent auction items.
•Melissa DePriest of the IRSC Scholarship Foundation - $1500.
•Dylan Picariello - $1000 to offset some of his medical related bills (this check was presented by CJ DeJarnette of the PSL Sunset Rotary Club a few weeks ago, see more of his brave story at http://www.caringbridge.org/page/dylansworld/).
•Alzheimer’s Community Service - $500

The PSL Sunset Rotary is currently recruiting new members who have an interest in working on projects to give back to our community in St Lucie County. The Club meets on the first three Thursdays of each month. On the fourth Thursday they do a park cleanup. Interested parties can contact Larry Breault, Club Secretary at 772-631-7109.
