Yali Friedman nominated for 2011 World Technology Award in Media and Journalism

July 13, 2011 - PRLog -- The World Technology Network has internally nominated Yali Friedman 2011 World Technology Award for the Media and Journalism category, part of the World Technology Awards initiative held in association with TIME magazine, Fortune magazine, CNN, Technology Review, Science magazine/AAAS, and others. The awards are intend honor those innovators who have made the most impactful contributions to science and technology.

The World Technology Awards have been presented annually since 2000 to the outstanding innovators from each sector within the science and technology arena for innovative work of the greatest likely long-term significance – both as a way to honor those innovators, and as a vetting mechanism to determine the newest WTN members. Nominations come from both current individual members of the WTN as well as through submissions made by nominees or representatives acting on their behalf.

As a member-nominated nominee, Dr. Friedman will become an Associate Member of the World Technology Network. If named a finalist or Award winner, he will become a Fellow of the WTN.

Previous Award recipients in the Media and Journalism category include: Michael Rogers, Krishna Bharat, Adam Clayton Powell III, Dan Gillmor, Chris Kyriakakis, Walter Mossberg, Harold Varmus, Patrick O. Brown, Michael Eisen, and Jeff Jarvis.

The Winners and Finalists will be announced from the stage at the “black-tie” World Technology Awards gala ceremony, to be held on the evening of October 26th, 2011, at the United Nations in New York City.  This event will be the culmination of the two-day (Oct. 25/26) World Technology Summit at the historic Time & Life Building.
