July 12, 2011 - PRLog -- Tampa, FL – Marc Rogoff, PhD, SCS Engineers-Tampa Project Director, has co-authored a new textbook on Waste-to-Energy (WTE) with Francois Screve, entitled, Waste-to-Energy, Second Edition: Technologies and Project Implementation. Published by Elsevier, one of the leading international publishing companies, this book is a major revision of the earlier edition, initially published in 1987.

The explosion of interest in WTE is fueled by carbon emissions reduction regulations, landfill waste reduction targets, and the shift towards the distributed generation of electricity. Factoring in those changes, Waste-to-Energy, Second Edition covers the many changes that have occurred in the WTE industry worldwide since 1988, including the introduction of new technologies, improvements in air emission control systems, new emission control regulation by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the European Union, changes in economic and financial conditions, and widespread actions to reduce anthropogenic climate change.

The second edition includes coverage of the latest technologies and practical engineering challenges as well as an exploration of the economic and regulatory context for the development of WTE facilities. The considerably expanded new edition provides the only fully up-to-date survey covering the planning, design, and implementation of WTE facilities, and is comprehensive guide to engineers, solid waste managers, and decision-makers throughout the world.

Dr. Rogoff has held a number of senior positions in the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) and the American Public Works Association. Following his BS and MS at Cornell University, Dr. Rogoff completed a PhD at Michigan State University and an MBA at the University of Tampa. His career has embraced all aspects of solid waste management, and he has directed engineer's feasibility reports for nearly two dozen public works projects, totaling $1.2 billion in project financing. His name is well known in the WTE field, where his consultancy work has covered feasibility studies on more than 50 facilities worldwide, operations assessments, and advising on key procurement decisions.

The book is available in the traditional hard bound copy, and as a downloadable Kindle edition.
