Follow on Google News | Medical Director Receives Distinguished Fellowship AwardDr. Elizabeth Ortiz-Schwartz, Medical Director at the Child Guidance Center of Southern Connecticut (CGC), was awarded a Distinguished Fellowship by the American Psychiatric Association, the highest honor bestowed upon members.
By: The Child Guidance Center of Southern Connecticut Dr. Ortiz-Schwartz joined CGC as Medical Director two years ago providing medical oversight of CGC’s clinical practices, the delivery of services to patients, and the supervision and direct provision of psychiatric services to children and teens. The Distinguished Fellowship is awarded to outstanding psychiatrists who have made significant contributions to the psychiatric profession in areas including social significance, community involvement and clinical excellence. Dr. Ortiz-Schwartz was also recently promoted to the rank of Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at New York Medical College for her involvement in teaching medical students and child psychiatry fellows. “Dr. Ortiz Schwartz is a true leader in her field. CGC’s clinical staff of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other clinicians work with more than 2,000 children annually, providing culturally competent and sensitive care to families representative of the rich ethnic mix of communities CGC serves. Preventative services are provided to youngsters, parents, and professionals through community education and consultation programs. Incorporated in 1954, CGC is supported by the Connecticut Department of Children & Families, Connecticut Office of Victim Crime Services, and the United Way.
