July 11, 2011 - PRLog -- In addition to a good variety of weathervanes, pewter, baskets and canes, the Americana section features a selection of Shaker furniture and decorative arts as well. A diverse grouping of country and formal furniture includes works from New England to Kentucky, and American chairmakers, clockmakers and cabinetmakers are represented by Ebenezer Tracy Sr of Lisbon Township, CT, Alexander Roux of New York City.
English and European furniture and decorative arts include some 16th and 17th Century Italian or Spanish furniture, an 1830s Louis-Philippe Marble-Top Giltwood Console Table, a 19th Century Louis XV Style Ormolu and Porcelain-Mounted Tulipwood and Kingwood Occasional Table, a Hispano-Moresque Vargueno, a Louis XV Provincial Walnut Bureau a Caissons, a German Biedermeier Ormolu-Mounted Mahogany and Burr-Birch Secretaire a Abattant. An important lot included in this auction is a complete 24-panel suite of Zuber et Cie’s ‘El Dorado’ wallpaper.
A fine selection of decorative items in the sale also includes sterling silver by Tiffany, Gorham, Peter and Ann Bateman, Black Starr & Frost, Frank M. Whiting, Reed & Barton, George Jensen and a large 213-piece gold vermeil flatware service. There are also porcelains by Wedgwood, Boch, Spode, Crown Staffordshire, Rosenthal, Sevres, Limoges, Meissen, Royal Worcester, and a large mid-19th Century Dessert Service.
