DiVincenzo and Williams’ presentation will take place on Friday, July 22 at 8:30 a.m. PDT.
DiVincenzo and Williams’ session, titled “Five Ways to Engage Your Learners with Video”, will present ways to use audiovisual techniques to enhance online learning. The presentation will feature examples of how several faculty members at UC Irvine have incorporated video and audio in their online classes to make the learning experience more engaging. The session will also include a discussion on how high-context, low-complexity videos can make online classes into real-time experiences and how novice technophiles can be introduced to the possibilities of using video in a low-cost but high-impact manner.
“Janet and Matt have both made very significant contributions to the success of our online courses at UC Irvine,” said Dr. Gary W. Matkin, dean of Continuing Education, Distance Learning, and Summer Session at UC Irvine. “Webinar participants will have the opportunity to learn first-hand the power of video and how it can enhance the learning experience.”
In her role at UC Irvine’s distance learning center, DiVincenzo coaches and assists faculty in creating online classes. She also designs eLearning for UC Irvine Extension’s online continuing education programs. Williams designs and develops pedagogically sound web-based learning modules that meet specific instructional objectives and adhere to current technical standards.
