Follow on Google News | Transaction Publishers Distributes Titles from Rutgers' Center for Urban Policy ResearchTransaction Publishers will now distribute titles from the Center for Urban Policy Research (CUPR) of the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University.
By: Transaction Marketing With CUPR’s decision to focus its efforts on research and public policy rather than publishing, having TA distribute its previously published titles will provide CUPR with greater flexibility to focus on its central academic activities. It will also permit the pioneering titles CUPR published in the past to reach new market areas, and connect with Transaction’ Among CUPR’s twenty-first century publications that are now available from Transaction are Between Eminence and Notoriety: Four Decades of Radical Urban Planning, Dialogical Planning, The Economics of Planning, Imaging the City, Informing Cultural Policy, The Latest Illustrated Book of Development Definitions, The Profession of City Planning, and Understanding Local Economic Development. The list also features works on Planning Ethics and various aspects of assisted housing (Neighborhood Choices, New Directions in Urban Public Housing, and Why Not in My Backyard?). CUPR has long been noted for linking its empirical interests with general information on basic issues of planning and policy and it is this focus that has made its publications so widely used in the field. Speaking for Transaction, Irving Louis Horowitz said, "I am pleased to welcome CUPR’s return to Transaction. We originally distributed its publications in the 1970s, until CUPR decided to develop its own press. Over the years its many fine authors have made CUPR and Rutgers a center for this critical area of research and theory. The efforts of Bloustein School Dean James W. Hughes, Robert W. Burchell, David Listokin, and the late Donald A. Krueckeberg (whose best-selling Introduction to Planning History in the United States is now in its ninth printing) have made this specialist publishing unit a proper partner and pioneer in the work of other agencies of urban planning and policy research in local, state and federal affairs. We are also pleased that Professor Listokin has agreed to serve as Special Series Editor in Urban Planning and Policy. With his guidance, we hope to make the activities of Transaction an even stronger inducement for researchers to use our home base at Rutgers University for future CUPR publications." Any vendors, distributors, or agents that have titles in their systems with ISBN prefix 978-0-88285 should change their records to indicate that orders or inquiries should be now directed to Transaction Publishers.
