Beach Confidence: how to look and feel amazing this summer

No beauty treatment or crash diet is going to magically turn our butt into Pippa Middletown’s famous derriere, but there are a few things we can still do to look and feel more confident this summer

July 11, 2011 - PRLog -- After one of the coldest and longest winters ever, we have been impatiently waiting for the summer holidays. Recession or no recession, we just can’t wait to get into skimpier clothes, get a bit of a tan, and enjoy the simple pleasures in life. But after spending months wrapped up in winter layers and hibernating in our homes, some of us find taking our clothes off more of a pain than a pleasure.

As a result, gyms are busier than after Christmas, and beauty salons are packed with women getting last minute cellulite busting, body slimming treatments, all in the name of beach confidence.

Whilst no treatment is going to magically turn our butt into Pippa Middletown’s famous derriere, or our bodies into her sister's royal figure, here are a few things you can still do to look and feel more confident this summer.

EAT FRENCH

We are not talking French fries here! But our downstairs neighbours, the French ladies know exactly what to do to get beachtastic bodies fast. Twenty one days is all you need to drop those unwanted inches and tons of body fat. Clear your kitchen cupboards of all sugary and starchy foods and drinks. Also, cut out coffee and caffeinated teas. Pack your fridge with lots of seasonal vegetables, eggs, fish, lean meats, berries, nuts and seeds.  Aim to eat three dessert plate sized meals a day and two fistfuls of either berries, nuts or seeds. Drink 1 litre of mineral water per 50 pounds of body weight.

INTERVAL TRAIN

No need for long aerobic sessions in the gym or endless amounts of back injuring sit ups. Instead, speed up your results with interval training. Use weights or your own body weight to do short bursts of exercise that will get you really out of breath and sweaty. For example: do as many push ups as you can for 30 seconds, followed by as many squats as you can for 30 seconds, followed by a 10 second rest. Repeat ten times. Do this twice a day.
