July 10, 2011 - PRLog -- The Lycian Way, which takes its name from the ancient civilization which once ruled the area, has become one of the world's best known long-distance footpaths. The Sunday Times announced it one of the ten most beautiful trekking routes of the world. The Lycian Way was also authorized by the Turkish Ministry of Culture.

The route was researched, designed and put into operation by Kate Clow with help from Terry Richardson. Trekking admirers can also use the guide books and maps produced by Kate Clow. Lycian Way is a 509 km footpath from Fethiye to Antalya. Trail is marked with red-white paint stamping every 100m or less. The route’s difficulty is classified from medium to hard, where the easiest section is located at the start near Fethiye and gradually gets more difficult further. On the route, except the highest sections hikers can stay in pensions, small hotels or village houses. There are some sections where wanderers have to camp out with own equipment. All the camping places (permission not required) are mentioned in the Clow’s guide book.

The Lycian Way amazes tourists with scenic views and wonderful nature proximity. On the route hikers can enjoy spectacular views over the coast, admire the castle, harbour and sunken ruins at Ucagiz, the church of the Angel Gabriel in the hills above Myra. Daredevils can prove their courage by climbing Mount Olympos (2388 m) and refresh by splashing in the canyon at Goynuk. On the trail wanderers will surely experience the friendliness of the villagers, watch the quaint old houses in deserted corners and uncommon deep forests and white rocks overlooking the blue Mediterranean.

To diversify stay in Turkey admirers of nature and active holiday after finishing adventure on the track can completely relax in elegant Tuvana Hotel, situated in Antalya’s historical centre only 450 metres from Hadrian's Gate and surrounded by gardens filled with exotic trees. Tuvana features an outdoor pool and spacious, luxurious  guestrooms with traditional Ottoman décor to complement the life adventure and appease the need of aesthetic impression.
