Sheraton Riyadh Hotel with OpenPaws supporting animal welfare

July 9, 2011 - PRLog -- The Sheraton Riyadh Hotel & Towers headed by Stuart G. Birkwood, General Manager of the hotel with his team visited OpenPaws a non-profit organization who are looking after abandoned pets and animals here in Riyadh.  The Sheraton Riyadh team handed over large bags of used linen to Dr. Lana, the head volunteer of the organization.  The linen will be used at the animal temporary shelter and for setting up traps to capture the stray cats who are then released.

For the past couple of years OpenPaws Riyadh has been campaigning for animal welfare by providing education and guidance on how to properly take care of house pets.  The group is also aiming at the source of the problem in reducing unwanted and abandoned pets like cats by neutering and putting them in temporary shelter till such time an adoption takes place.  An adoption form can be found on their website at http://www.openpaws.org and through the OpenPaws Facebook page.

The next project of OpenPaws is the campaign awareness at the Sheraton Riyadh staff house by teaching volunteer associates on how to set-up traps for stray cats instead of calling local pest control.   The Sheraton Riyadh is also planning to create a themed-park like room at the OpenPaws temporary animal shelter.
