July 8, 2011 - PRLog -- The FREE 2011 Lake Arrowhead Village Summer Concert Series continues this holiday weekend, Friday, July 8; Saturday, July 9; and Sunday, July 10 on Center Stage. Underwritten by the Lake Arrowhead Village, the Village Merchants Association, Burrtec Waste Industries, Inc., KOLA 99.9 FM, the Rim of the World Historical Society and Ontario Reign, the concert lineup will showcase three great bands.

“This is a great weekend for anyone who enjoys Celtic and Irish music,” says Director of Marketing for Lake Arrowhead Village Rebecca Smith. “We have lined up some talented groups. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: overall, this season’s lineup includes some of the best talent we’ve ever had on Center Stage.”

Friday, July 8 from 6:30-9 p.m. Young Dubliners
The origin of the Young Dubliners can be traced back to the vibrant pub scene in Los Angeles, where Dublin natives Keith Roberts (vocals, guitar) and Paul O’Toole first met. Roberts was composing some Irish ballads at the time and thought a band might be in the offing. The two assembled a talented rag-tag team of Irish transplants and like-minded American rockers. The Young Dubliners grew into the pugnacious music machine they are today, morphing into a septet without O’Toole and releasing the critically acclaimed hit, “Red.” With O’Toole part of the band again, the group has been thrilling audiences around the globe.

Saturday, July 9 6:30- 9 p.m. Trooper Thorn
Trooper Thorn is a fresh new Irish rock band whose name is taken from the John Wayne character in “The Quiet Man.” The band plays the Irish songs everyone knows and loves, as well as the a few not-so-Irish songs. Raised on the songs and stories of their heritage, this high-spirited 7-piece band will have you clapping until your hands are raw, singing until your voice is gone and dancing until your feet are sore. Then, still, they will leave you wanting more. Croi Follain Agus Gob Fliuch! (A Healthy Heart & A Wet Mouth)

Sunday, July 10 from 6:30-9 p.m. The Fenians
For nearly two decades now, The Fenians have delivered a potent mix of traditional Irish folk and good old rock-n-roll across the USA and Ireland. With an ever-expanding set of original creations, as well as contemporary and traditional tunes plucked from the panoply of the genre, these five lads put on a live show that is second to none. Their foundation is decidedly Celtic. But there is no mistaking the complimentary influences of Rock, Folk, Bluegrass, Jazz and World music.

Continuing weekend nights and special holiday dates through mid-September, the Summer Concert Series features popular solo artists such as Leif Garrett and Antonio Pontarelli and renowned groups like Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, the Jay Blues Band and Martha Davis & the Motels. Talented tribute bands will include Eagles’ tribute Desperado; Pink Floyd tribute Which One’s Pink; and an Aerosmith Tribute band, Aeromyth.

While festival seating for the concerts is free, tables can be reserved for $100 (for a full table/which seats up to 10) or $50 (for a half table, which seats up to 4). Also, event sponsorships are still available. For a comprehensive schedule, click here. Please be aware that performers are subject to change without notice.
