July 8, 2011 - PRLog -- one80 Salon, the uptown salon with the downtown address that has served as the styling destination for editors, socialites and politicos since 2005, announces the arrival of this summer’s most anticipated hair trend, rainbow locks, as made popular by Lauren Conrad, Selena Gomez, and Hillary Duff.

Getting Lauren Conrad’s Rainbow Locks
“This look is fresh, chic, and completely unexpected,” says celebrity colorist Derrick Lachney, whose Nashville roots have made him a go-to colorist for country rockers Allison Krauss, Kelly Pickler and Naomi Judd.  “It’s a bit ‘My Little Pony’—and who doesn’t love ‘My Little Pony’?”

“If your hair is already pre-lightened like hers, it is a really easy look to do, and you can do as much or as little as you want.  If your hair is dark, I would lighten the ends so that the bright shades will look and stay fresh.  I would balayage individual strands toward the tips, so the color has an ombre effect.  Another great look would be a peacock blend of blues, greens and turquoise, which would be so summery!”  From a time perspective, it would take between 45 minutes (pre-blonded hair), or a bit over an hour for hair that would need lightening, and prices would begin at $115.

Featherlocks Feather Hair Extensions: A Temporary, Budget-friendly alternative
Made exclusively by ConditionCulture (conditionculture.com), and offered exclusively by one80 in Washington, Featherlocks are natural, high-quality feathers available in an array of colors that are easily applied to your hair to add subtle or dramatic highlights without damage or altering color.  Like hair extensions, once applied, Featherlocks can be washed, dried, flat-ironed or vent curled without damage.  Once applied, they will typically stay affixed for up to 3 weeks.

Salon one80 stylist Jordan Pringle, who has added Featherlocks to the tresses of dozens of artists and K Street lobbyists alike, says “I’m so inspired by the mixtures of natural colors and patterns of Featherlocks feathers.  I love that it’s a chemical free technique that is a great way for Washingtonians to have fun with their style for the summer. And if Jean Paul Gaultier's just-presented haute couture collection is any indication, feathers are here for the long run."

For a subtle look, Pringle will affix Featherlocks at the nape of the neck toward the front, “so that they show when you want them to be seen. A patterned set of Featherlocks in a shade that closely matches your natural hair color is a great way to be a bit rebellious while still maintaining your boardroom decorum.”  For a more daring look, she will apply them closer to the crown, using brighter plumes. “Oranges and blues stand out the most.  Of course, I wouldn’t recommend this if your day job includes reading legal briefs,” says Pringle.

ConditionCulture, makers of Featherlocks, created the method of attaching individual feathers with a silicone-lined microbead, ensuring that no chemicals are used in the application, causing no damage to the hair.  Featherlocks last a lifetime and can reapplied over and over again without losing integrity or luster.

Featherlocks are available in Washington, D.C. exclusively at one80 Salon, and cost $25 for a set of three and take approximately a half hour to apply.

One80 Salon is located at 1275 K Street NW, Washington, DC, 202.842.9113, www.one80salon.com. One80 is open Tuesday through Friday from 9 am – 8pm and Saturday from 9am – 6pm, with additional hours by special arrangement.
