Customers who shop dealerships such as Atlantic Toyota and Huntington Toyota should know good things are coming their way as the latest details from Toyota’s annual dealer meeting have been revealed.

July 8, 2011 - PRLog -- Atlantic Toyota is a dealership in New York, and many miles away in another state at the end of June a collection of Toyota Motor Corporation executives and 1,233 U.S. Toyota dealers gathered to talk about the future.
Each year Toyota dealers from around the country gather to listen to company goals from the top down and to learn about the latest developments in Toyota products and technology. Toyota customers who may be considering Atlantic Toyota or nearby Huntington Toyota for their next Toyota purchase will be pleased to learn some of the highlights from the event included:
•   More freedom for local dealerships – This may bode well for Toyota shoppers as their local dealers may have more ability to break away from national deals and offer more customized promotions to their customers.
•   Advancements with Microsoft – In Toyota’s alliance with Microsoft, the corporation will be able to offer drivers new technologies such as the RAV4 EV and new progress in telematics (a term that’s often used to describe mobile communications technology in vehicle navigation systems).
•   2012 Camry and Camry Hybrid – Toyota’s best-selling vehicle will have even more features and improvements for the 2012 model year.
Speaking at the meeting were Toyota President Akio Toyoda; Toyota Motor North America, Inc., President and COO Yoshi Inaba; Toyota Motor Sales President and COO Jim Lentz; TMS Senior Vice President Senior Vice President, Automotive Operations Don Esmond; Toyota Division Group Vice President and General Manager Bob Carter; and Vice President-Scion Jack Hollis.
According to a press release, Mr. Toyoda thanked dealers for their contributions of $11.5 million to the Japan disaster relief effort made after the earthquake and tsunami disaster on March 11, 2011.
Additionally, he told attendees how committed Toyota remains to leading the way in the auto industry by saying, “We must earn it with our actions and with our words, with great products and great service and with genuine affection for our customers and our communities.”
Other highlights noted by Toyota executives that may be of interest to those shopping dealerships such as Atlantic Toyota or Huntington Toyota included:
•   A far better recovery for Toyota since the Japan disaster with production levels for eight models returned to normal in June and four models predicted to return to 100 percent in September
•   News that the Prius family launch is still on schedule
•   More advanced vehicles arriving soon including the Prius plug-in hybrid, the RAV4 EV and Scion iQ EV
•   A new plant in Mississippi that’s opening in the fall that will have an output of 150,000 Corollas per year
•   The Etune system will make its debut in the all-new Prius v and Camry this fall
