PRLog (Press Release) - Jul. 8, 2011 - Cary, NC – The International Society of Diversity and Inclusion Professionals (ISDIP), the first global comprehensive association for the diversity and inclusion field, spanning all industries and sectors, is proud to co-sponsor the forthcoming conference, DiversityDoctor 2011: Reducing Healthcare Disparities, Improving Cultural Competence, and Advancing Patient-Centered Care.


This exciting event will be held September 23-24, 2011 at the Desmond Tutu Conference Center in New York City. Speakers will include Dr. Joseph Betancourt, M.D., M.P.H, Director of Massachusetts General Hospital’s Disparities Solutions Center; Candi Castleberry-Singleton, Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center; and many other national healthcare leaders.


“The conference focus is on both reducing healthcare disparities and valuing diversity within healthcare,” says event host Dr. Patrick Swift, Ph.D., Clinical Assistant Professor at New York University (NYU) School of Medicine and Clinical Neuropsychologist at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases. “I see them as two wings of a feather: Without hospital cultures that value diversity internally, patient-care issues such as reducing healthcare disparities and cultural competence will always be held at the periphery.”
