Scotland's New Sea Kayak Centre Launched for Summer

Scotland's newest centre for sea kayaking has launched on the west coast of Scotland in time for summer

July 11, 2011 - PRLog -- Scotland's newest centre for sea kayaking has taken to the water in time to ride the wave of home-grown holidaymakers looking for adventure in the UK.

Sea Kayak Arisaig is based at the Glenuig Inn, amid some of the most spectacular scenery in the world, overlooking the Sound of Arisaig on the West Coast.

The area is renowned world wide for the infamous 500km Scottish Sea Kayak Trail that runs from the isle of Gigha through the Sound of Arisaig to the Summer Isles near Ullapool, and was also recently described by National Geographic Traveler Magazine as the one of the Top 50 Tours of a Lifetime.

Situated just 35 miles from Scotland's outdoor adventure capital of Fort William and little more than two hours by car from Inverness airport Sea Kayak Arisaig caters for every level of kayaker.

A range of top performance composite Tiderace sea kayaks are available for hire to groups and individuals, including those holding less than a BCU 4* Leader Award (Sea) or equivalent, can benefit from the experience of qualified sea-kayaking coaches and guides

“This area offers an outstanding backdrop to what is fast becoming one of the nation's favourite sports. Sea kayaking is next to mountain biking in popularity among outdoor adventurers and where better to hone your skills or start something new than here on the Sound of Arisaig” said Steve Macfarlane, owner of both Sea Kayak Arisaig and the Glenuig Inn.

The company can arrange long weekend and mid-week skills development breaks which are run by fully qualified coaches who can teach, lead and guide out on the water.

For those who come as a group, Sea Kayak Arisaig can provide everything from the kayaks to the paddles, spray decks, buoyancy aids and dry tops and can provide group leader safety equipment including radios, pumps and tow-lines.

Based at the Glenuig Inn, Sea Kayak Arisaig offer residential courses too with discounts of up to 20% for either the accomodation or the sea kayak hire whichever is greater.

Glenuig Inn is an award winning inn dating back to the 18th century when it was once torched by soldiers hunting Bonnie Prince Charlie.  Recently refurbished, the inn boasts 21st century technology focusing on sustainability and protecting the environment.  It has recently been awarded a Gold Award from the Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS).
