By: drawchange In conjunction with Alive: Art Otherwise Present, drawchange is bringing Healing From The Storm to a hurricane Katrina devastated neighborhood. Healing From The Storm will be a large-scale, permanent, mosaic installation created and inspired by children from Asheville, Atlanta and New Orleans. Jennie Lobato, founder and CEO of drawchange adds, “We are going into the neighborhood hardest hit by the storm. Our intention is to bring Healing From The Storm by creating hope through art. We’ve seen how people are raised up by having something beautiful placed in the middle of chaos. Six years later, these folks are still sorting through the debris. We know this gift will be the extra little push they need to finish the clean up. We’re going to help them get back to the rich beauty New Orleans is famous for.” On August 13th, a team of 10 volunteers will be spending a week in New Orleans to install the mosaic. After the installation, the team will provide hands-on relief assistance one of the families in the neighborhood.
