July 7, 2011 - PRLog -- It was announced this week that Dr John Ashcroft is to join the Business Leadership Council. Dr. Ashcroft is Chief Executive of membership organisation pro∙manchester which represents the financial and professional sector within the city.

The Business Leadership Council was established in September 2008. The role of the Council is to advise AGMA and the GMCA on its ongoing policies and priorities; to conduct its own reviews on the areas it believes will determine the future well-being of the Manchester City Region and make recommendations directly to the Executive Board on issues of particular importance.

The agenda of the Council is to focus on securing economic growth in key sectors, influence investment, infrastructure and transport, promote environmental responsibility and resource efficiency and skills and training for work.

John Early Chairman of the BLC said

“ I’m delighted that John is joining the BLC and look forward to his contribution to our future programme, which  involves working in a number of key policy areas relating to the economic performance of Greater Manchester.”

Dr Ashcroft is also a director of Marketing Manchester, on the Council of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce and a visiting professor at MMU Business School.
