Michigan GMC Dealers See New Technology as Buyers Shop for GMC Vehicles on Smartphones Easily

July 7, 2011 - PRLog -- DETROIT, M.I. – Michigan GMC dealers may offer options on their websites to browse, compare and build the perfect GMC vehicle to suit the needs of a shopper. That was, at one point, the easiest and most convenient way to do so until GMC developed a new app for consumer smartphones.
The GMC Showroom App is now available from the Apple App Store and will be coming to the Android market by the end of this month.
“We recognize that smart phones play an important role in our customers’ lives, including purchase decisions,” said John Schwegman, U.S. vice president of GMC marketing, in a GM press release. “The new GMC Showroom App provides our customers with the advanced technology they have come to expect of the GMC brand and the convenience to easily engage with their GMC dealer.”
The free app gives smartphone owners the ability to search through vehicle photos or videos, compare GMC models to their competitors and to build the right GMC. Other tools available include the ability to locate a vehicle in the inventory of Michigan GMC dealers and others found locally, requesting a quote from the chosen dealers, schedule a test drive and even view the current offers available on the vehicle.  
Some figures on smartphones and the wide audience that may be reached with the app include:
•   More than 100 million smartphones were sold globally in the first quarter of 2011
•   Includes 85 percent year-over-year increase
•   Smartphone sales are expected to grow 55 percent this year over last
•   Predicted to nearly double by the end of 2015
It was determined with a survey completed by Chadwick Martin Bailey and iModerate Research Technologies, that the 50 percent of consumers that were polled use their smartphones to assist them in shopping.
Michigan Chevrolet dealers may be excited about the ease of technology that their customers are now able to enjoy and may hope it makes it easier to find the right vehicles the shoppers are looking for.
