Long-awaited North Miami Pepper Park Community Center Breaks Ground

July 6, 2011 - PRLog -- NORTH MIAMI, FL – The mayor of the City of North Miami, Andre D. Pierre, and Councilwoman Marie Erlande Steril addressed a group of elected officials, staff, business and community representatives during a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of construction for the long-awaited Pepper Park Community Center. Bruce Cavossa, vice president of operations for Kaufman Lynn Construction, who will oversee the construction team, said that the construction will create work opportunities for many North Miami residents. Kaufman Lynn Construction has committed to subcontracting 25% of the work to North Miami businesses.

The one-story, 18,577 square foot community center features an iconic rounded roof and will anchor the western perimeter of Pepper Park located at 13535 NW 17th Avenue in the City of North Miami.  The Community Center will include an indoor basketball court and volleyball court, lockers rooms, a teen lounge, aerobics and weight room, arts and crafts room, a game room, a computer lab, and a central gallery space. The facility is designed and will be built to meet the requirements of a LEED Silver certified facility.

The community center is scheduled for completion in July 2012.
