July 6, 2011 - PRLog -- MIAMI SPRINGS, Fla. – The Message From Marli Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting ovarian cancer awareness, will host a four-man scramble golf tournament at the Miami Springs Golf & Country Club on Saturday, July 9.

In this format, each team's players hit from the tee box, and then the team members choose the best of the four shots for the next shot. All team members then play the second shot from that location, and again choose the best shot. Play continues in this manner until the hole is completed. The team then records its score and maintains that format for all 18 holes.

The entry fee is $400 per foursome and $100 per player. Platinum sponsorships for $1000 include team entry fees, four tee signs, two cart signs, and four additional dinner tickets. Gold sponsorships for $500 include the team entry fee and two tee signs. The shotgun start begins at 1:00 pm.

About Message From Marli Foundation (MFM)
MFM is a non-profit, charitable organization founded in 2010 to help raise awareness about ovarian cancer and to advocate for early detection of the disease. Following Marlene Wolff’s Stage IV diagnosis, her husband and three children created the foundation to help educate women and medical professionals about the symptoms of the “silent killer” because once the symptoms become evident, the disease has advanced to the most dangerous levels.

By helping women become aware of ovarian cancer symptoms, it is our mission that we can help them receive early diagnosis and treatment. According to the American Cancer Society, Ovarian Cancer is the deadliest gynecologic cancer and the fifth leading cause of death in women in the United States with 22,000 women diagnosed annually. 80% of them are diagnosed at stage III or IV. The five-year survivability for this disease when diagnosed in the latter stages is approximately 15%. When diagnosed at stage I or II, the five-year survivability increases to 90%.

The funds donated to the foundation are used to create a variety of informational resources regarding ovarian cancer thus extending Message from Marli’s global campaign. The literature produced is used to supply medical organizations with valuable information for patients, families, and caregivers at institutions such as the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.
