Design competition winner available at Leda

PRLog (Press Release) - Jul. 4, 2011 - Leda are pleased to be able to offer for sale the "Derailed" bike rail which won the prestigous Bike Rack as Art Design Competition in2011.Carl Jones and Michael Chijoff of design studio Jones Chijoff were judged winners by the expert design panel.Part of the NSW BikePlan, the Bike Rack as Art competition was launched by the Powerhouse Museum and the Roads and Traffic Authority of NSW (RTA) during Sydney Design in August 2010, and invited participants to design a cutting edge public bike rack that is both a beautiful item of street art as well as a long-lasting, easy-to-use, functional device.

Leda were selected by the RTA to produce the winning design which was then installed in the councils of Penrith, Liverpool and Parramatta. Since the competion, Leda and Carl Jones have agreed to further design modifications so both the winning design and a lower cost model will be available. It is an exciting development for Leda as the company comes at things from a more manufacturing based back ground so a fresh and unique design is an important requirement for many of our clients. The Derailled bike rack is best suited for high profile public sites as while extremely practical, aesthetically is more akin to street art.
