Angela Basset and Samuel Jackson to star in play

July 4, 2011 - PRLog -- The names Angela Bassett and Samuel Jackson are not merely just names.  The two have been seen in roles that lead to some of the best movies to ever hit the big screen. Now they will combine to star in one of fall’s most highly anticipated Broadway play, The Mountaintop.

The play premiered in London 2 years ago and received a 2010 Olivier Award for Best play which is the equivalent to a Tony Award. It is set to open on October 13.

The Mountaintop is a story taking place on the night before Dr Martin Luther King Jr’s assassination April 4th, 1968. After delivering his famous speech “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop” which gave an eerie premonition of his death, King called for room service at the hotel he was staying in for the night.  As the maid delivers room service, King thinks about his past and his influence on the many people he has touched.
