Brooke Shields as Morticia

July 4, 2011 - PRLog -- Broadway bids farewell to Bebe Neuwirth as Brooke Shields took her role yesterday, June 28th, on the stage as “Morticia” in the musical The Addams Family.

This will be Brooke’s 5th time taking over a Broadway role that started with a previous actor: This occurred in Chicago, Cabaret, Grease, and Wonderful Town.

The Addams Family musical is an original story with the larger than life characters you know and love. Things get a little peculiar when Wednesday decides to bring her boyfriend and his parents to the house for dinner.

In a statement Brooke explains the following:

“When the producers asked me to come see the show a few months ago, I found it to be wonderfully entertaining, funny, clever and even touching, and I knew immediately that I wanted to be the next Morticia, following the amazing Bebe Neuwirth. I can’t wait to join Roger and the wonderful cast.”
