White Wings Over America and the National White Dove Release Society (NWDRS) is planning to honor the 10th Anniversary of 9/11 with a multi-national white dove release. Professional dove release organizations and interested individuals who fly white birds are invited to join in this simultaneous memorial in memory of those who paid the ultimate price in the attacks of 2001.
There are various memorials, large and small, being held in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom and Australia. Wherever possible, these memorials will culminate in the simultaneous release of white doves in all locations. Information regarding the individual ceremonies and release locations can be made by contacting those participants by finding their contact information on the web site www.WhiteWingsOverAmerica.c om .
This year, the 10th Anniversary of 9/11, falls on Sunday, September 11, 2011. The various memorials will be coordinated to end by 3:00 PM EDT. Your local time zone must be consulted to find the time in your particular location. The white dove releases will be coordinated so that thousands of these birds will fly in unison across the United States and other countries whose time zones will allow.
The memorials at each location can range from a full memorial program to individuals releasing their birds in a public location. The common thread is releasing the doves as a symbol of peace and in memory of all who lost their lives 10 years ago.
Nearly 2,000 birds are now pledged for the observation with additions to these pledges being made on a daily basis. Participation in this event is possible by visiting the web site www.WhiteWingsOverAmerica.com/
