Free Great Concerts and Spectacular Fireworks Show for 4th of July Weekend in Lake Arrowhead

July 3, 2011 - PRLog -- The FREE 2011 Lake Arrowhead Village Summer Concert Series continues this holiday weekend, Friday, July 1 through Monday, July 4 on Center Stage. In addition to four fantastic free concerts, a spectacular free fireworks display will light up the skies over Lake Arrowhead on Sunday night. Underwritten by the Lake Arrowhead Village, the Village Merchants Association, Burrtec Waste Industries, Inc., KOLA 99.9 FM, the Rim of the World Historical Society and Ontario Reign, the concert lineup will showcase three original groups and two 80s’ cover bands.  

“Come up to Lake Arrowhead for free music and entertainment all weekend long,” says Director of Marketing for Lake Arrowhead Village Rebecca Smith. “We’ll have a talented original group, a gifted acoustic solo artist, a popular band that plays blues, rock and swing; and two rocking 1980s’ covers.”

Saturday, July 2 6:30- 9 p.m. Spazmatics
The Spazmatics were born in the spring of 1983 when an Alta Dena High School physics’ teacher lost a bet. As agreed by both parties, the loser had to do anything that the winner demanded. And the victorious student demanded that Stigwood perform, “She Blinded Me with Science” during halftime at a state basketball championship game.

Without musical experience and desperate to escape humiliation, Stigwood formed the Spazmatics by recruiting a few talented musicians and tapping the genius of another teacher, who explained that most of the music could be achieved using electronics.

When the group debuted, the audience was stunned by their authenticity of production, world-class musicianship and tight choreography. Today, the group performs authentic sounds, styles and dance steps from the 1980s to appreciative crowds across the country.

Sunday, July 3 at 6-9 p.m. M-80s
A rocking high-energy cover band from Birmingham, Alabama, the M-80s performs hits from the 80s including music made famous by the Michael Jackson, Journey, Bon Jovi and Poison, to name a few…

Taking you back to the best music from a time period that became the gold standard for many styles of music. Since they only perform hits, you’ll instantly recognize and immediately appreciate every song they play. With the best pop, rock and new wave hits of any cover band, the M-80s will take you Back to the Future.

Monday, July 4 from 1-4 p.m. Big Papa & The TCB
Formed in 2006, Big papa and the TCB have taken audiences by storm, resurrecting cool all across the western United States with their unique mixture of jump blues, rock and swing. The band was born in the back alleys and seedy after-hours parties in juke joints, in the rough part of town, where the bad folks live. Listening to Big Papa & The TCB is like watching your inner child finally kick in the bully’s teeth. Takin’ Care of Business—pure and simple.

Continuing weekend nights and special holiday dates through mid-September, the Summer Concert Series features popular solo artists such as Leif Garrett and Antonio Pontarelli and renowned groups like Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, the Jay Blues Band and Martha Davis & the Motels. Talented tribute bands will include Eagles’ tribute Desperado; Pink Floyd tribute Which One’s Pink; and an Aerosmith Tribute band, Aeromyth.

While festival seating for the concerts is free, tables can be reserved for $100 (for a full table/which seats up to 10) or $50 (for a half table, which seats up to 4).
