Restaurants at Chinatown, Hualamphong & Phahurat ( Bangkok)

Some of Bangkok's best Chinese and Indian food is found in these adjacent districts, but because few tourists stay in this part of town (for good reason - it's simply too congested) they rarely make any eating forays into the area.

July 2, 2011 - PRLog -- A few old Chinese restaurants have moved from Chinatown to locations with less traffic, but many places are still hanging on to their venerable Chinatown addresses, where the atmosphere is still a part of the eating experience.
Most specialise in southern Chinese cuisine, particularly that of coastal Guangdong and Fujian Provinces. This means seafood, rice noodles and dumplings are often the best choices. Unless otherwise indicated, these places to eat can be found on the Chinatown & Phahurat map. Please visit : http://booking-thailand.net/samui.html
Large, banquet-style Chinese places are mostly found along Th Yaowarat and Th Charoen Krung, and include Laem Thong, just off Th Charoen Krung, and Shangari le Restaurant, near the corner of Th Yaowarat and Th Ratchawong. Each has an extensive menu, including good-quality dim sum (220B to 500B) before lunch time.
The best noodle and dumpling shops are hidden away on smaller lanes and alleys. Chiang Ki is a funky place where the 100B khâo tôm plaa (rice soup with fish) belies the casual surroundings - no place, does it better. Kong Lee has a very loyal clientele for its bà-mii hâeng (dry-fried wheat noodles) - again reportedly the best in Bangkok.
Hong Kong Noodles, deep in the heart of a vendor-lined soi, does a busy trade in steaming bowls of roast duck noodles; if you can fend a seat, it has a nice vista of the ensuing commerce. Next door is its sister restaurant Hong Kong Tim Sum, for dim sum and steamed pork buns on the go.More info : http://booking-thailand.net/hotelsamui.html
Pet Tun lao Tha  is another great noodle place, on the southeastern edge of Chinatown, opposite the Harbour Department building. The restaurant's name means `Harbour Department Stewed Duck'; the specialty is lavtaytraw served with duck or goose, which is either roasted or stewed.
