July 1, 2011 - PRLog -- The launch was packed with inspiring messages and key note presentations from the Chief Executive of VON (Dr Sylvia Forchap), Chief Editor of Fab Afriq (Mrs Adeline Sede) and the Director of Five Children Centre (Mrs Susan Roberts).

Dr Forchap started by welcoming the distinguished guests in English, French and Italian, and sharing with them the purpose driven and humble journey that led to the birth of the organisation, which was followed by testimonials and footage from VON.

It was also an opportunity to celebrate the centenary year of the woman 2011 in great style and promote female leadership. An empowering presentation was given by Mrs Adeline Sede followed by footage of women’s journey to freedom and a just and peaceful world.

Families are at the heart of female leadership and hence communities. To celebrate and applaud the success of the only Children Centre in Speke in positively impacting our children and community, Mrs Susan Roberts gave an inspirational talk on “passion for community”.

The kids had a blast at the specially designed and equipped kid’s room, with the support of staff from the Five Children Centre and some volunteers. My daughter quoted after the event “Thank you so much mum, it was the best event ever in the entire world; better than all the parks, children’s centres and playgrounds, mum you are the best”.

The crowd was superb and colourful, the atmosphere overwhelming and filled with authentic and soul touching music and ambiance from DJ Vally.

Dinner was a superb mix of a variety of intercontinental dishes, meticulously prepared and served by the Director of VK Intercontinental cuisine (Mrs Vera Koroye).

Stunning look Models and cutting edge young female designer of “88-91” (Miss K. Campbell) and her models stole the show by elegantly walking the aisle with their spectacular outfits and style. The background music and ambiance by DJ vally added momentum to the show and got the crowd thrilled and overwhelmed.

Then came the long awaited moment; the presentation of the 3 tier inauguration cake of VON, specially designed by Miss Vera Koroye, and presented by Mrs Irene Njaungang; who then orchestrated the cutting and tasting of the cake. It was initiated by the Chief Executive of VON followed by her husband (Mr Likambi) and a host of well wishers. Kind gestures and donations totalled £570.

Finally, our Intensive empowerment project and upcoming activities, funded by the Community Foundations for Merseyside was launched.

The evening was handed over to DJ Vally after acknowledgments by Dr Sylvia Forchap Likambi, for the gala and music nonstop to finalise the hectic day.
