July 1, 2011 - PRLog -- Guangzhou China, June 30, 2011 – International demand for Chinese myrcene is predicted to increase slowly in the next years, but the export will gradually face challenges in China, according to CCM’s report Production and Market of Myrcene in China.

Along with the bloom of β-pinene industry in China, myrcene industry has been developing fast in the past 10 years. The export volume has been declined in 2009 due to the influence by global financial crisis.

Statistics shows that total capacity of domestic myrcene amounts to 20,800t/a by 2009. In 2009, the total national output of GT reached 12,100 tonnes, while export volume of myrcene in 2009 reaches about 4,800 tonnes, decreasing a lot compared with that in 2008.

But as the global market recovers, the export of myrcene will increase gradually, driven by the rising overseas demands.

Although the recovery takes place in China’s myrcene industry, there are still many problems exist. Based on CCM’s myrcene report, the export of myrcene will gradually face challenges from domestic demand with the rise of derivative industries in China.

The derivatives of myrcene include ambrotone, citronellal, myrac aldehyde, myrcenol, lyral, linalool, geraniol, nerol, etc. Ambrotone, citronellal and myrac aldehyde are the top three consumers of myrcene in 2009, accounting for 41.09%, 17.81% and 16.44% of total domestic consumption volume respectively.
