SYMC’s senior management and union leader jointly visit dealer shops

* Representatives of labour and management took another step toward the company’s management normalization process; they visited their dealers shops

July 2, 2011 - PRLog -- Ssangyong Motor Company (President & CEO Lee Yoo-il; (www.smotor.com) , part of the US$12.5 billion Mahindra Group, announced on June 28th (Tue.) that a group of management and labour representatives visited dealer shops for a feedback session with sales persons and to encourage them in their work.

Some 10 representatives, including Mr. Lee Yoo-il, president and CEO of SYMC, and Kim Kyu-han, the union-head, visited dealer shops in Gwang-gyo and Joong-ang, Suwon. They paid tribute to the heads of dealer shops and their sales persons for having stood by the company through thick and thin and for waiting until the company completely recovered. They also asked them to engage in more active sales activities to expedite the normalization process.

Ssangyong Motor Company has set a benchmark as far as establishing a positive labour-management relationship is concerned, by becoming the first automaker to complete annual wage talks without conflict. The company has introduced OJT (On-the-Job Training) programmes in the plant and a cultural campaign to promote soft skills. These visits were meant to nurture the relationship between labour and management.

“We will have a more powerful sales network in the second half of this year as we add more dealers and auto managers (sales persons)” said Mr. Lee Yoo-il, president of Ssangyong Motor Company. “The normalization and future growth of the company are in your hands. Thus, please do your best in contacting each and every one of the customers,” he asked.

“There will be no more shortage of products due to any trouble in the management-labour relationship” said Kim Kyu-han, the union-head. “We are work hard to produce good quality vehicles at manufacturing sites, so please focus on selling more at the forefront”, he added.

Ssangyong Motor Company has recently announced that it would expand its sales network to 190 dealer shops and recruit auto managers by the end of this year. (End.)
