At this year’s International Christian Retail Show attendees have the opportunity to help two local Atlanta children’s and family ministry organizations through CBA’s Ministry in Action outreach.

Ministry in Action will assemble 100 bicycles during the event’s three days, July 10-13, in Atlanta’s Georgia World Congress Center. The project aims to give back to the Atlanta community, which is hosting the annual retail convention and trade show, by demonstrating the industry’s ministry and mission purposes through acts of service.

The bikes will be donated to Eagle Ranch and SafeHouse Outreach. Ingram Content Group’s Spring Arbor will sponsor the event.

Curtis Riskey, CBA executive director, said, “Tangible outreach helps position Christian stores as ministry servants in their local communities. Initiating ministry helps retailers make a compassionate statement in their communities and helps them align with local churches in reaching those in need through retail ministry. I urge all ICRS participants (both retailer and trade) to help touch people’s hearts with this compassionate project.”

The process is simple, and many hands make light work, he said.

Eagle Ranch is a Christ-centered children’s home for boys and girls in crisis and in need of hope and healing. Partnering with their families, the ministry pursues family restoration and reunification. The Eagle Ranch team also works to influence and equip others to share a similar calling to impact children, families and future generations. (Visit www.eagleranch.org.)

SafeHouse Outreach is an urban outreach committed to changing people’s lives by providing a hand up, not just a hand out. SafeHouse provides practical, emotional and physical assistance to help those living on the margins of society to positively change so they can lead healthy, functional lives as a part of society. (Visit www.safehouseoutreach.org.)

Assembled bicycles will be presented to both ministries at 1 p.m. Wednesday at ICRS 2011 in the Town Center area. Additionally, the offering at the Worship Him Sunday service will benefit Eagle Ranch.

Spring Arbor’s sponsorship secures the bikes and provides tools, aprons, assistance and other necessities for retailers and exhibitors to build the bikes.

“Spring Arbor is honored to stand alongside our retail and supplier partners in support of CBA’s Ministry in Action program,” said Spring Arbor’s Chris Smith, director of sales. “If you have ever had the pleasure of presenting a new bicycle to a child you know how rewarding that moment can be. Both Eagle Ranch and SafeHouse Outreach impact the lives of children and their families daily, and it’s a privilege to assist them in this very meaningful way.”
