Detroit Green Miles Festival - Celebrating Detroit Going Green

Bringing Social Inclusion on Environmental Sustainability to Urban Areas

June 30, 2011 - PRLog -- Detroit, MI. Imagine a world where everyone enjoys clean air, toxic free communities, access to trusted transportation and healthy food. Is it possible to transform urban communities to fit this ideal lifestyle? It is believed that with the proper information, education and resources urban communities can be equally included in the journey towards environmental sustainability.  The Detroit Green Miles Festival will host its first annual two day event on September 23-24, 2011 on Belle Isle Park in the Lighthouse section.
Poor economic growth and high unemployment numbers only begin to describe the problems Metropolitan Detroiters are facing. Everyone has a right to clean air, toxic free communities and healthy food regardless of socio-economic status. Urban areas oftentimes have fewer choices and are less informed regarding environmental matters. The Detroit Green Miles Festival (http://Detroitgreenmilesfestival.org)  will provide information, education, and resources to thousands of participants beginning  a process of total and complete inclusion in urban communities regarding the need for environmental sustainability.

The two day event will begin on Friday, September 23, 2011 at 10:00 am with a “Green Collar” Green Jobs Fair.  The job fair will showcase green job employers, green job training programs, and green job opportunities. The Detroit Green Miles Festival is free and will be hosted on Belle Isle from 10:00 am – 8:00 pm on both days and will feature exhibitors, live entertainment, presentations, play areas for children, food and fun for all.
For more information on the Detroit Green Miles Festival visit (http://Detroitgreenmilesfestival.org), or by calling 313-347-8484. Sponsorship and exhibitor booths are available.
