June 29, 2011 - PRLog -- Former Dior head designer John Galliano was on trial last Wednesday. He was charged for "public insults based on origin, religious affiliation, race or ethnicity” resulting from his anti-Semitic outburst last February in a Paris cafe.

The dismissed Dior designer blamed his addictions for his racist rant. However, GreenBeanBuddy.com thinks that the 50-year-old's workload also played a great part on it. Galliano personally said that his workload in Dior and his own label prompted him to seek refuge on alcohol, barbiturate and sleeping pills.

Galliano claimed he remembers nothing about the February incident because of triple addiction. He also apologized for his other recorded racist outburst which was made public after his arrest. However, for his racist rants, he could be in jail for six months and could pay a fine of $32 175.

“John Galliano is very well-known in the fashion industry. He is so talented in making and designing clothes that Dior made him its head designer. However, a few months ago, he was arrested for an anti-Semitic outburst in France and is now on trial because of it.”

“The 50-year old designer blamed addiction for his racist ranting in a Paris cafe. But is addiction really the one to blame? Could it be that it's the stress from work that had caught up to him and pushed him on the edge?”

“With the many reality shows now centered in fashion, it's now easier to see why others say that it's a very demanding industry. And if you take a look at what happened to other famous designers, you can say that the same could really be happening to John Galliano today.”

“In fashion, conventional wisdom dictates, you can bounce back from anything - provided the clothes are good enough. But John Galliano might test that maxim because no fashion designer has ever tried to bounce back from allegedly saying "I love Hitler" before. And, apropos of Mel Gibson's anti-Semitic outburst in 2006, Seventh Avenue - New York's "Fashion Avenue" - is even more Jewish than Hollywood. Mel's rant wasn't filmed, while Galliano's apparent video of a drunken, slurring bigot in a ruff and a silly hat telling two women that their forefathers should have been "gassed" will forever be out there on YouTube.”

"I mean, how do you walk into a big appointment to sell your 'vision' to the buyer of a major US store who just happens to be a Jewish New Yorker after that?" asks one glossy magazine fashion editor.”

“The video was filmed on a mobile phone in a Paris bar in December 2010, but was made public only at the end of February this year after Galliano had been arrested for another alleged anti-Semitic outburst in the same café in the Marais, a now-fashionable area of Paris that was once the city's Jewish neighbourhood. Quite literally around the corner from the café in question, La Perle, is a primary school where the Nazis rounded up 260 children and sent them to the death camps. Making racist comments in France is a crime punishable by up to six months in prison.”
