Taste of Victory for The Cupcake Compartment

June 29, 2011 - PRLog -- An Ellesmere Port company tasted victory last Tuesday when it beat five other retailers to be named the Short-Term Retailer of the Year at a glittering national awards ceremony at London’s Dorchester Hotel.

Steve and Juliet West, the company directors, headed to London’s Park Lane last Tuesday (21 June, 2011) for the Sceptre Awards, hosted by Shopping Centre Magazine. The awards recognise the best practice and the best people in the shopping centre industry and over 430 retailers from all over the UK packed the Ballroom of the Dorchester Hotel to hear who would receive the thirteen coveted awards up for grabs.

The Cupcake Compartment, which operates a kiosk at Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet, beat off stiff competition to win the Short-Term Retailer of the Year Award. The hosts, Shopping Centre Magazine, were also celebrating their 20th anniversary and The Cupcake Compartment was also invited to supply a giant cupcake mosaic birthday cake for the celebrations, as well as 430 mini cupcakes, one for each of the guests.

Steve West, Managing Director says: “We were really excited just to be nominated for this award, as we only opened at Cheshire Oaks last October. To be asked to supply our cupcakes for the evening was… well… the icing on the cake!

“Our roots are in food festivals and farmers markets and what we have tried to do with The Cupcake Compartment is provide the same level of freshness, quality and friendly customer service, in a shopping centre setting. The awards were presented by actor and comedian Miles Jupp and money raised on the night went to Wooden Spoon, a rugby charity that works with underprivileged children in the UK and Ireland.

The Cupcake Compartment team are no stranger to awards ceremonies; Steve and Juliet West’s Pudding Compartment business has previously won six Great Taste Awards and the True Taste of Wales Award for their handmade cakes, cheesecakes and puddings.
