June 29, 2011 - PRLog -- The Action for Children’s Sports Dinner once again proved a huge success and continued its tradition of combining football fun with charity. The event, in its 8th year, took place at the exquisite Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow on the 24 June 2011, delivered a night of fun and food for sports fans with entertainment including the highly contested Sports Trivia Quiz, sports-themed tales and top of the range prizes. Attendees were entertained by guest presenter Sky Sport’s Peter Martin and guest speakers Bill Copeland and Niven Rennie.

Poonam Gupta, founder of PG Paper, said: “We always really enjoy working with Action for Children. Once again this year the night was an exceptionally fun event, with a great response to the auction and, as always, a very competitive Sports Trivia Quiz. Between the Football Tournament and Sports Dinner over £36,000 was raised for the charity. Action For Children once again showed they are adept at organising successful and fun charity nights and PG Paper are delighted we could help raise even more money than last year for vulnerable children in Scotland.”

PG Paper Company Ltd was established by husband and wife team Puneet and Poonam Gupta in 2003. Salvaging and finding uses for industrial commodities that would normally go to waste or landfill, and recycling,  is central to business for PG Paper, who work from their base in Kilmacolm, Renfrewshire. The company – now a truly global exporter, with its operations spread across all continents – is projecting a further 100% growth in the next couple of years. This high level of success allowed the couple to focus more on giving back and while they have many charity endeavours across the globe Action for Children Scotland, being right on their doorstep, is one that they feel particularly passionate about.

Action for Children Scotland helps the most vulnerable children and young people in the UK break through injustice, deprivation and inequality, so they can achieve their full potential.  A spokesman for Action for Children said: “Once again the Action for Children Sports Dinner proved to be a fantastic success and provided a much needed helping hand to over 8000 children, young people and their families at more than 60 projects across the country, and we are very grateful towards the generosity shown on the night.”
