Port's Boutique Hotel Ranked Australia's Best 4.5 Star Property

The luxury accommodation field had the most finalists of all 37 categories, and the Four Mile beachfront boutique property took the Gold award from a field of 15 which included national brands such as The Sebel Group, Radisson, Crowne Plaza, Accor and Novotel runners up Novotel Barossa Valley Resort (Silver)  and Novotel Woollongong North Beach (Bronze)

Owner Sheryn Blundstone said the association had sent a mystery shopper to the property in May, to assist in the evaluation which included service, facilities, location, inclusions and attention to detail.

“We didn’t know the mystery shopper visited, but we treat all our guests with the same attention and respect,” she said.  “My husband Phil and our entire staff are focussed on not just providing great accommodation and service but ensuring our guests experience the essence of this incredible place by the top class tours which showcase the natural beauty of the Daintree and the Great Barrier Reef.’’

Sheryn Blundstone said the property would use the win to promote the destination in every possible way.  “We are the leading holiday destination in Queensland and Australia - unaffected by flooding or cyclones and operating as business as usual particularly now through to December when we are experiencing such beautiful warm sunny days and balmy tropical nights,” she said.

Doug Ryan, executive officer of Tourism Port Douglas Daintree, agreed the recognition served to promote the excellence of the region’s tourism product, saying the Gold award was a great result for a fantastic property in an amazing location.
